QPHI will drive health research by recruiting a large number of Qataris to provide biological samples and health data. The Qatar Biobank cohort study aims to collect high-quality biological samples and data from 60,000 participants, including Qataris and long-term residents, to promote global medical research. The COVID-19 Biorepository is focused on gathering health information and samples from 6,000 participants to support research and development of new healthcare interventions related to the pandemic. The Qatar Birth Cohort Study, the first of its kind in the Gulf, will follow 3,000 women and their families over five years to study the effects of environmental and genetic factors on chronic disease development.
